Job summary

Westpac is seeking an Engineer for Agent Ops in a hybrid Sydney/Melbourne role. You will help build and run enterprise AI capabilities, driving safe, scalable adoption across the bank. You’ll work on platforms, products and services powering AI innovation, with emphasis on APIs, cloud infrastructure and observability.

Join a collaborative engineering culture, contribute to AI agent development, model integrations and production support, while solving complex technical challenges at scale.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of APIs, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, containers and monitoring tools

What's the role?

Ready to help shape how AI is built, deployed and operated at scale?

As an Engineer Agent Ops, you'll join the team responsible for creating and running enterprise AI capabilities that enable safe, scalable and reusable AI adoption across Westpac. Working alongside experienced senior and principal engineers, you'll contribute to platforms, products and services that power the next wave of AI innovation.

You'll build and support AI and LLM operations capabilities while contributing across application development, cloud engineering, automation, testing and production support. From developing APIs and integrations to supporting cloud infrastructure, monitoring and observability, you'll play a hands on role in delivering reliable and secure AI solutions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, learning emerging technologies and building products that have enterprise wide impact while working in a collaborative engineering culture.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Sydney, Warrane, Gadigal Country, or Melbourne, Naarm, Wurundjeri Country. Other locations may be considered by agreement.

What do I need?

• Experience building applications, integrations or cloud infrastructure as part of a team
• Working knowledge of APIs, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, containers and monitoring tools
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, along with Kubernetes environments
• Experience coding, scripting, testing and troubleshooting software solutions
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for AI technologies including LLMs, agents, RAG and model integrations

While not essential, we'd love to hear from you if you have experience with:

• Python a modern front-end framework or API development
• OpenTelemetry, identity integration or network controls
• AI agents, model APIs, MCP or vector search
