Job summary

You will manage research data storage, across on-premises and cloud platforms, ensuring secure, scalable and resilient technology services for researchers and staff. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Experience working in research organisations or institutions.
• Understanding of research projects, workflows and lifecycles.
• Strong knowledge of research data storage, infrastructure and computing services.
• Experience with cloud and on-premises environments.
• Understanding of data lifecycle management and governance.
• Experience with security, backup and disaster recovery in enterprise tech.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage, optimise and evolve research data storage platforms and related infrastructure services.
• Collaborate with researchers to understand current and future storage and computing requirements.
• Support capacity planning, performance tuning, retention, archiving and governance.
• Contribute to backup, recovery, business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
• Work with vendors, MSPs, Cyber Security and ICT to deliver integrated services.
• Plan, modernise and improve research infrastructure, storage and computing technologies.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance research capability.
