Job summary

The University of Sydney's Archives and Records Management Services is seeking a Privacy Advisor to join our privacy team on a full-time, fixed-term basis. You will assess privacy enquiries, provide guidance on privacy legislation, and manage information access requests under PPIP and HRIP Acts, helping staff apply Privacy by Design.

You will develop practical privacy resources, support privacy training, and collaborate with Senior Privacy Specialists on impact assessments to strengthen privacy

Qualifications

• Experience applying privacy legislation in large organisations.
• Strong written and verbal communication for high-level documents.
• Experience with information access requests under PPIP/HRIP acts.
• Ability to develop privacy resources and training.
• Knowledge of Privacy by Design concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assess and triage incoming privacy enquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide timely, practical advice on privacy legislation and compliance with the University's privacy governance framework.
• Manage internal review and information access requests under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act).
• Assist Senior Privacy Specialists with privacy impact assessments where required, including liaising with relevant stakeholders.
• Develop practical privacy resources and guidance for staff and contribute to privacy training and awareness activities.
• Support the implementation of Privacy by Design and develop tools and documentation to help staff identify and mitigate privacy risks in projects and business-as-usual processes.
