Job summary

University of New South Wales – Kensington NSW is seeking a Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery across the project lifecycle in Higher Education IT.

Based at UNSW Kensington Campus with a hybrid arrangement (2-3 days onsite), you will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage risk, budget, and quality, and report to the Lead Project Manager to drive strategic initiatives across the Education Domain.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications with subsequent relevant experience, or equivalent competence gained through education, training and experience.
• Proven experience managing end-to-end IT projects or strategic initiatives, coordinating scope, schedule, budget, risk, resources, change and quality.
• In-depth understanding of the project lifecycle and experience applying PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile or other recognized project management methodologies.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear project information and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success working collaboratively with people at different levels across a complex organization, including business, technical and delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage key project and initiative components across budget, risk, resources, change and quality from idea, discovery, design and delivery through to post-implementation review.
• Develop and maintain practical project plans, milestones, delivery arrangements and assurance activities that keep teams aligned to scope, budget, schedule and intended outcomes.
• Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials, ensuring appropriate controls, decisions and escalation pathways are in place.
• Align projects and initiatives to UNSW governance pathways, applying a consistent and proven set of rules for planning, decision-making, assurance and reporting.
• Lead effective communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders, adapting information and recommendations to support timely decisions and sustained alignment.
• Engage and coordinate staff assigned from IT and across the University, fostering a customer-centric delivery culture and supporting teams to achieve agreed scope, budget and timelines.
• Manage vendor communications where applicable, working in partnership with Procurement, Legal, and Vendor and Commercial teams to support effective commercial outcomes.
