Job summary

Kinetic IT seeks an experienced Contract Manager to join the Delivery Excellence & Contract Performance Team in Canberra. You will act as the contract management partner for Commonwealth Government accounts, translating obligations into practical actions, managing risk and delivering commercial value.

Work with Account Directors, Delivery Leaders, Legal and Finance to maintain governance across the contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance, renewals, changes and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience managing Commonwealth Government and commercial contracts.
• Understanding of procurement, governance, compliance frameworks.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into actionable governance.
• Experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to work across legal, finance and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage Commonwealth Government contracts across their lifecycle, including implementation, operations, renewal and transition.
• Interpret contract requirements and government obligations into clear actions and governance controls.
• Prepare and coordinate contract variations, change proposals, extensions and renewals.
• Lead contract negotiations within delegated authority and escalate material or high-risk matters.
• Maintain obligation registers, contract artefacts, notices, deliverables and governance records.
• Monitor compliance with contractual, security, probity and confidentiality obligations.
• Identify, assess and manage contractual and commercial risks and service credits.
• Analyse contract performance and provide actionable risk mitigation recommendations.
• Serve as day-to-day contract point of contact for assigned accounts and build trusted relationships with government counterparts.
• Support governance forums, contract reviews, audits and assurance activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve controls, templates and processes.
