Job summary

Balance Recruitment is seeking an APS5 Test Engineer to join a government ICT testing team in Melbourne. The role supports planning and executing structured testing across platforms to ensure services meet requirements and deliver dependable outcomes.

You will work with stakeholders and vendors, contribute to test plans, and help drive testing efficiency while conforming to governance standards. A Baseline security clearance is required, with onsite work transitioning to hybrid after initial

Qualifications

• Experience in acceptance testing, test planning, test case design and execution.
• Ability to apply and improve testing methods and tools.
• Ability to analyse test outcomes and communicate issues effectively.
• Experience in government or large-scale organisations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop test plans, test cases, task cards, test data and supporting requirements from supplied specifications.
• Execute assigned test cases at different stages of testing, including acceptance testing, and confirm services meet agreed requirements.
• Identify, document and manage defects and inconsistencies with requirements or design specifications.
• Analyse and report on testing activities, results, issues and risks, escalating matters to senior staff as appropriate.
• Contribute to team tools, process improvements and test automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and external software vendors to support effective testing and delivery.
• Allocate work where required, support team processes and provide assistance and training to less experienced testers.
• Maintain accurate records of testing effort and build knowledge of relevant systems, policies and procedures.
