Job summary

Qualifications

• ISTQB Foundation Level tester with knowledge of frameworks, policies and information management.

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned test cases at various stages of testing on appropriate platforms.
• Develop test plans, test cases, task cards, and test data from specifications.
• Analyse and report on test activities and results, and raise issues to senior staff.
• Contribute to team improvements, including tools, processes, and test automation.
• Identify, manage and document defects and issues inconsistent with requirements.
• Conduct testing to ensure ICT service functions as per requirements.
• Create test data within external software vendor environments.
• Record time and effort for test cases accurately.
• Allocate work to team members based on issue complexity and capability.
• Provide training to less experienced testers.
• Support team to follow business processes and align to delivery outcomes.
• Maintain up-to-date ICT legislation, policies and processes knowledge.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for timely project delivery.
• Provide advice to external software vendors regarding testing and development.
• Assist with cost analysis activities as required.
• Exercise delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.

Test Analysts determine and then carry out testing activities to validate the design and behaviour of systems and services.

APS5 Test Analysts ensure that their test effort is effectively executed and that allocated activities are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines. APS5 Test Analysts use their in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice and development to less experienced testers. APS5 Test Analysts work under the general direction and support of senior staff. They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge. They plan their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

Key duties and responsibilities

Duties may include:

• execute assigned test cases at various stages of testing on appropriate testing platforms
• develop test plans, test cases, task cards, and supporting test data and/or requirements, under own direction from the specifications provided
• analyse and report on test activities and results, and escape issues and risks to senior staff
• contribute to team improvement initiatives and projects, including team tools, process changes, and test automation
• identify, manage and document defects, programming errors and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specifications
• conduct testing to ensure the ICT service functions as per requirements
• create test data within external software vendor environment
• accurately record time and effort for test cases
• allocate work to team members, using judgement to match issue complexity and staff capability
• provide assistance and training to less experienced testers
• support team to follow business processes and align to overall delivery outcomes
• maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICT related legislation, policy and processes and transfer knowledge to other team members
• collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and timely implementation of projects
• provide advice and assistance to external software vendors in regards to testing and development of software
• assist with cost analysis activities as required
• exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
  

Preferred Knowledge/Qualifications:

• ISTQB Certified Foundation Level Tester with extensive knowledge and understanding of:
• frameworks, legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements relevant to the work area
• the agency's privacy, ethics, workplace health and safety and security protocols
• relevant business systems and tools
