Job summary

MCS Civil is a privately owned Australian civil contractor delivering essential infrastructure projects across Australia. We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor to support project teams across major civil and energy projects.

You will provide practical HSEQ leadership, conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments, and help maintain our high standards on site and in the office. This role combines field and coordination work across multiple regions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as HSEQ Advisor or similar role.
• Experience in civil construction, infrastructure, energy or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and environmental requirements.
• Experience with risk management, site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Experience implementing HSEQ controls and ensuring compliance on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical HSEQ support and guidance to project and site teams.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of HSEQ systems and processes.
• Assist with risk assessments, SWMS, JHAs and project documentation.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action processes.
• Monitor and report on HSEQ performance and improvement opportunities.
• Support project mobilisation and HSEQ planning.
• Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and HSEQ training as required.
• Work with project teams to identify and manage operational risks.

MCS Civil is a privately owned Australian civil contractor with a strong reputation for delivering specialist civil works across the energy, rail, transport and infrastructure sectors.

With a growing pipeline of major infrastructure projects across Regional NSW, Brisbane and South Australia, we are seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join our project teams.

This is an opportunity to work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors and site teams to support the safe, compliant and high-quality delivery of major civil and energy infrastructure projects.

About the role

Working across major civil and energy projects, you will provide practical HSEQ leadership and support across project delivery. The role combines site-based engagement with office-based coordination, giving you exposure to a diverse range of projects, teams and operational environments.

You will play an important role in maintaining strong HSEQ standards, supporting project teams to manage risk and ensuring systems and controls are effectively implemented across our sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical HSEQ support and guidance to project and site teams
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks
• Support the implementation and maintenance of HSEQ systems and processes
• Assist with risk assessments, SWMS, JHAs and project documentation
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action processes
• Monitor and report on HSEQ performance, trends and improvement opportunities
• Support project mobilisation and HSEQ planning
• Assist with internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives
• Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and HSEQ training where required
• Work with project teams to identify and manage operational risks

About you

• Minimum 2 years' experience in an HSEQ Advisor or similar role
• Experience within civil construction, infrastructure, energy or related industries
• Relevant qualification in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation, construction safety and environmental requirements
• Experience with risk management, site inspections, audits and incident investigations
• Understanding of quality and environmental management systems
• Experience implementing HSEQ controls and supporting compliance across active construction sites
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence teams and deliver training
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate HSEQ documentation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant HSEQ systems
