Job summary

Civil Mining & Construction (CMC) seeks an experienced Senior HSE Advisor to lead health, safety and environment across Queensland civil and mining projects. You will drive a strong safety culture, coach project teams and contractors, and ensure compliance with legislation throughout multi-million-dollar works.

You will develop and maintain HSE systems, manage audits, lead investigations and deliver continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Cert IV (minimum) in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Construction HSE management (7+ years).
  • Demonstrated experience working in a senior HSE role on major civil infrastructure, mining or construction projects.
  • Implementation and monitoring permit-to-work system experience.
  • Experience in WH&S/HSE management techniques and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Queensland WHS legislation and compliance obligations.
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
  • Ability to conduct, lead and interpret audits and reviews.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach and mentor operational teams and stakeholders.
  • TMR and/or TfNSW experience will be highly regarded.
  • Must be willing to work on a FI/FO or DI/DO roster. Project uplifts and allowances are paid when working on roster.

  • Develop, implement and maintain HSE management systems, plans, procedures, training programs and project documentation.
  • Lead incident investigations, corrective actions, compliance activities and reporting to support safe project delivery and business performance.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, regulators, project teams and other stakeholders to achieve positive HSE outcomes.
  • Support environmental and occupational health initiatives, emergency preparedness and return-to-work programs where required.

The opportunity

CMC is experiencing a strong period of sustained growth, driven by the continued success of our precontracts team and a healthy pipeline of secured work. As a result of recently awarded projects through Qld, we’re now seeking experienced Senior HSE Advisors who will play a key role in the safe delivery of our projects while providing leadership, mentoring and expert HSE guidance across project teams.
