Job summary

Amida Limited in Sydney is seeking an experienced HSEQ Lead/Manager to join a well‑established national contractor. You will oversee multiple concurrent projects, drive risk management, audits, and continuous improvement across NSW sites, reporting to the National/Regional HSEQ Manager.

Candidates from Health & Safety Advisor or HSEQ Manager backgrounds with Defence/Industrial/Marine exposure are welcome; travel to regional NSW sites required, Australian citizenship for Defence projects.

Well-established, national head contracting and construction services company Extensive project pipeline in Defence, Industrial, Commercial & Marine sectors Excellent career progression and brilliant company culture, values and ethics Leading 2 to 4 HSE Advisors and working closely with senior leadership Fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and growing construction contractor. Will be overseeing multiple concurrent projects and reporting into a National/Regional HSEQ Manager.

Our client is now seeking an experienced HSEQ Lead or HSEQ Manager to join their growing business in Sydney. They have a national presence and are considered top of their field with a great culture, career progression opportunities and strong pipeline of work with blue chip clients.

Working closely with a National/Region HESQ Manager, Operations Managers and State Manager, you will be involved in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety management are carried out across all construction sites across NSW. Candidates can come from a Health and Safety Advisor (with a lot of experience looking for a step up) or HSEQ Manager background.

Having a background in any of Defence, Industrial, Marine, High Rise Façade, Commercial construction and remediation is ideal.

Candidate must hold Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain Defence security clearance as some of the projects may be on Defence sites. Sites are located across NSW, therefore travel will be required as needed.

Years of experience: 5 to 10+ years

Responsibilities

• Coach a team of HSE Advisors.
• Direct critical risk management, verification and operational assurance across the business.
• Lead audit programs, incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Project Managers, senior leadership and clients on strategic HSEQ matters.
• Drive meaningful improvements in safety, quality, environmental performance and operational culture.
• Provide HSEQ leadership across tenders, project mobilisation and project delivery.
• Build organisational capability through coaching, mentoring, training and leadership development.
• Identify emerging risks and trends and translate insights into practical improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Ideally a Cert IV in Health & Safety or a Diploma 5 to 10+ years’ experience with background in working in construction health & safety
• Strong knowledge of HSEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks
• Strong experience in risk management, auditing and assurance processes
• A sound understanding of Quality Management Systems
• Ability to thrive in high pressure, fast paced environment
• Well-developed interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Will be travel to some regional sites in NSW occasionally
• Australian citizenship, required for access to Defence project sites.
