Job summary

Coal Services Pty Limited is seeking a proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support WHSE teams across multiple business units. The role is hybrid with locations including Sydney, Newcastle, Woonona and Argenton, and covers parental leave backfill.

You will provide practical advice to ensure compliance with WHS legislation and the Safety Management System, support committees, investigate incidents, conduct audits, and help develop training materials.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as WHSE Advisor or similar role.
• Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation and codes of practice.
• Experience conducting workplace audits and inspections.
• Strong communication and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical WHSE guidance to managers and employees.
• Support WHSE committees and assist units to manage risks and hazards.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct workplace audits and inspections to identify compliance gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with development and review of safety training materials and courses.

• Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement with teams.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor

• Fixed-term, full-time opportunity to cover parental leave
• Role can be based in any of our Coal Services office locations including Sydney, Newcastle, Woonona and Argenton with Hybrid working available

We’re seeking a proactive and collaborative Work Health and Safety Advisor to support our WHSE teams across multiple business units and help to deliver on our purpose, 'to protect'.

About the Role:

As the HSE Advisor, you’ll provide practical advice, guidance, and support to managers and employees to ensure compliance with WHSE legislation and Coal Services’ Safety Management System.

You’ll play a key role in:

• Supporting WHSE committees and assisting business units to manage risks and hazards.
• Provide advice regarding WHS obligations and support ongoing legislative and regulatory compliance.
• Investigating incidents and recommending corrective actions.
• Conduct workplace audits and inspections to identify compliance requirements and improvement opportunities.
• Assisting with the development and review of safety training and WHSE course materials.
• Supporting the WHSE Manager with safety projects, reporting, and system updates.
• Support the development of a proactive safety culture through engagement with teams to identify hazards, assess risks and implement effective controls.
• Embedding our psychosocial risk management framework

About you:

• Workplace HSE qualifications (Tertiary preferred, Cert IV min)
• Proven experience as WHSE Advisor or similar roles.
• Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and relevant codes of practice
• Experience conducting workplace audits and inspections.
• A practical, service-focused approach to supporting internal stakeholders.
• Confidence engaging with frontline employees and operational leaders
• Strong analytical and reporting capability, with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• NSW Drivers Licence
• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPP) and databases
