Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a housing services professional to deliver culturally responsive and person-centred support to First Nations communities. You will interact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Councils, interview applicants, assess housing needs, and maintain comprehensive records across IT systems.

You will also monitor arrears, support tenancy management, and participate in community engagement while upholding safety and compliance policies.

• Experience communicating sensitively with diverse communities, especially First Nations peoples.
• Strong customer service orientation with ability to conduct interviews and assess needs.
• Proficiency with data entry and maintaining accurate records in housing programs.

Job description

In this role, you will deliver culturally responsive, person-centred housing services to First Nations peoples and communities, while supporting effective tenancy management, customer service, and community engagement.Your responsibilities will include:- Communicate effectively and sensitively with First Nations peoples, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Councils, to foster collaborative relationships with the community.- Conduct comprehensive, person-centred customer interviews around housing need. Assess social housing applications, quality assuring assessments and conducting regular reviews of applications.- Monitor and follow-up arrears, rent payments and action sundry debts as required.- Conduct home visits and investigate and facilitate the resolution of tenancy issues, complaints and maintenance issues, escalating appropriately to Senior Housing Officer.- Maintain accurate and timely customer and property records and files ensuring departmental compliance.
