Job summary

• Experience investigating and resolving equipment faults.

• Ability to manage multiple equipment builds, inspections, servicing tasks, and repairs concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hire equipment for delivery, ensuring it is clean, safe, fully operational, and professionally presented.
• Receive, inspect, clean, and assess returned equipment for faults, damage, wear, or servicing needs.
• Complete condition reports and communicate findings promptly to the Hire Operations Coordinator.
• Carry out minor repairs, adjustments, maintenance, and equipment testing; escalate major repairs as needed.
• Diagnose reported faults and perform basic fault-finding to determine action.
• Assist with assembly, setup, programming, and testing of mobility equipment, especially power wheelchairs and scooters.
• Maintain equipment readiness through stock rotation, charging, cleaning, and inspections.
• Keep accurate service and maintenance records.
• Support planning and coordination of equipment allocations, deliveries, collections, and returns.
• Assist with deliveries and collections of larger equipment like beds and hoists.

Job description

As the Hire Equipment Technical Coordinator, you will be responsible for the technical readiness and day-to-day coordination of a wide range of mobility and rehabilitation equipment, including power wheelchairs, mobility scooters, hospital beds, hoists, and other assistive technology. This hands‑on role is responsible for the preparation, inspection, maintenance, fault‑finding, and coordination of mobility and rehabilitation equipment to ensure customers receive safe, reliable, and high‑quality solutions when they need them most. Working closely with the Hire Operations Coordinator and Delivery Team, you will play a key role in maintaining the hire fleet, ensuring equipment is fully operational and supporting the efficient delivery, collection, and servicing of hire equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare hire equipment for delivery, ensuring it is clean, safe, fully operational, and professionally presented.
• Receive, inspect, clean, and assess returned equipment, identifying faults, damage, wear, or servicing requirements.
• Complete condition reports and communicate findings promptly to the Hire Operations Coordinator.
• Carry out minor repairs, technical adjustments, preventative maintenance, and equipment testing. Escalate major repairs to the Hire Operations Coordinator.
• Diagnose reported equipment faults and undertake basic fault‑finding to determine appropriate action.
• Assist with the assembly, setup, programming, and testing of mobility equipment, particularly power wheelchairs and scooters.
• Maintain equipment readiness through stock rotation, battery charging, cleaning schedules, and routine inspections.
• Maintain accurate service, maintenance, and equipment records.
• Support the planning and coordination of equipment allocations, deliveries, collections, and returns.
• Assist with deliveries and collections when required, including beds, hoists, and other larger equipment.

About you

• Practical experience in equipment servicing, mechanical fault‑finding, repairs, or a related technical field.
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience investigating and resolving equipment faults.
• Previous customer service experience and the ability to communicate professionally with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to manage multiple equipment builds, inspections, servicing tasks, and repairs concurrently.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using CRM, Smartsheet, or similar systems.
• Physical capability to safely move and manoeuvre equipment using appropriate lifting aids and assistance.
• Current unrestricted driver's licence.
• Willingness to assist with deliveries and collections as required.
• Experience in mobility, rehabilitation, medical equipment, healthcare, or assistive technology industries (desirable).
