Job summary

Height 4 Hire is seeking a Hire Controller / Yardperson to join our Cairns team. You will coordinate equipment, manage hire contracts and assist the sales team while ensuring safe, efficient yard operations.

We value reliability, teamwork and a hands-on approach in a fast-paced hire environment. A Class C driver's licence and willingness to be flexible with duties are essential. Employment is permanent after probation.

Qualifications

• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
• Hold a Class C Driver's Licence.
• Clear, organised approach with logical problem solving.
• Experience operating access equipment; training/licence provided.
• Punctual, reliable and flexible with start/finish times.
• Ability to work unsupervised and in a team.
• Physically fit; occasional heavy lifting.
• High Risk License (Forklift/EWP) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor incoming/outgoing equipment to meet customer requirements.
• Data entry of hire contracts and service jobs.
• Raise purchase orders and receipting stock as required.
• Invoicing and finalisation of hire contracts.
• Provide office support to the sales team.
• Check stock and liaise with workshop.
• Ensure yard and machines are clean, safe and ready for hire.

Due to significant growth in the Business, we are currently seeking a hardworking Hire Controller / Yardperson to join our Cairns team and deliver professional and reliable service for our customers. The nature of the hire industry requires people who can adapt quickly, think on their feet and help solve daily logistical challenges.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• Coordinate, arrange & monitor incoming and outgoing equipment ensuring customer requirements are met
• Data entry of hire contracts & service jobs
• Raising purchase orders and receipting of stock as required
• Invoicing and finalisation of hire contracts
• Office Support to the sales team
• Checking stock availability & liaising with the workshop
• Safely and efficiently operate, clean and wash access equipment and ensure the yard and machines are operating as safely and efficiently as possible.
• Ensure all machines that are booked for hire are operationally checked and placed in the required area for pick up during, and at the end of each working day.
• Assist customers with all manner of enquiry – including loading and unloading machines, trailers and trailer mounted booms.
• Complete daily equipment Stocktake and update the Register as required.
• Work closely with our Service Team and assist with machine hire preparation and repairs as required.
• Take responsibility for the cleanliness and operation of the yard.
• Identify and report any issues with machines and other equipment.
• Support truck drivers with the delivery and pick up of booms and scissor lifts when required.
• Work safely within company and statutory Workplace Health & Safety requirements, policies and procedures, including various site safety requirements.
• Other duties as required to foster a team environment.

Skills and experience

• Ability to build customer relationships & maintain these relationships
• Maintain a Class C Driver's License
• A clear and organised mind and able to logically problem solve.
• Experience operating various types of access equipment in a safe and acceptable manner (training and licencing will be provided to assist with this skill).
• Be punctual, reliable and flexible with start and finish times.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
• Physically fit as from time to time some heavy manual handling may be required.
• High Risk License (Forklift & EWP) an advantage
