Job summary

Rarekind, a global family-owned business, is expanding its Australian operations in Somersby and seeks a Hire & Freight Coordinator. This role blends customer service, hire coordination, freight and logistics to keep equipment moving and customers informed with minimal downtime.

You’ll be the central point of contact, coordinating orders, freight, and communications, while identifying cost-effective improvements and keeping multiple teams aligned.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate hire orders, quotations, extensions, exchanges and off-hires.
• Take customer enquiries around availability, pricing, deliveries and order status.
• Coordinate equipment collections and keep assets moving.
• Organise inbound and outbound freight with transport providers.
• Track deliveries and address delays, damages or freight issues.
• Keep customers and internal teams updated with tracking and delivery information.
• Work with sales, warehouse, operations and finance to keep orders running smoothly.
• Follow up freight and transport requests until sorted.
• Look for smarter, more cost-effective ways to move equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and customer service.

We're working with a global, family-owned business that's been in the lifting and hoisting game for 50 years. With operations across Australia, North America, the UK and Europe, their Australian operation is continuing to grow, and they're looking for a Hire & Freight Coordinator to join the team in Somersby.

This is a role with a bit of everything. Customer service, hire coordination, freight, logistics, problem solving and plenty of keeping people in the loop.

You’ll be the central point of contact helping make sure customers get the right equipment, at the right time, without the usual logistical headaches.

Day to day, you’ll be:

• Coordinating hire orders, quotations, extensions, exchanges and off-hires
• Taking customer enquiries around availability, pricing, deliveries and order status
• Coordinating equipment collections and keeping assets moving
• Organising inbound and outbound freight with transport providers
• Tracking deliveries and jumping on any delays, damages or freight issues
• Keeping customers and internal teams updated with tracking and delivery information
• Working closely with sales, warehouse, operations and finance to keep orders running smoothly
• Following up freight and transport requests until they’re sorted
• Looking for smarter, more cost-effective ways to move equipment around
• Helping identify opportunities to improve processes, customer service and overall efficiency

In other words, you’ll be right in the middle of the action, making sure the wheels keep turning.

What we’re looking for:

You don’t need to have worked directly in equipment hire before. We’re more interested in someone who knows their way around customers, coordination and a busy operational environment.

What matters is that you’re organised, switched on and comfortable taking ownership when something doesn’t quite go to plan.

You’ll also need to be comfortable with systems and Microsoft Office, with the confidence to pick up new software quickly.
