Viva Energy Australia is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You can be based in Melbourne or Adelaide and contribute to accurate, timely weekly payroll outcomes within a large, busy organisation.

You will handle payroll compliance, respond to employee queries, and support month-end and year-end activities while developing payroll expertise in a dynamic energy and retail environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated payroll experience within medium to large organisations.
• Experience processing high-volume weekly payrolls.
• Experience interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Sound understanding of payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation requirements.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Responsabilités

• Process end-to-end weekly payroll activities accurately and within strict deadlines.
• Process new starters, terminations, transfers and payroll adjustments.
• Manage high-volume payroll transactions, including allowances, overtime, leave payments and deductions.
• Complete payroll validation checks, investigate exceptions and support off-cycle and termination payments.
• Interpret and apply Awards, Enterprise Agreements and company policies.
• Support compliance with payroll requirements, including Fair Work, taxation, superannuation and leave obligations.
• Identify and elevate payroll risks or compliance concerns.
• Support payroll audits and remediation activities.
• Respond to employee and stakeholder payroll enquiries professionally and promptly.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and build effective relationships across the business.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Review payroll reports and identify discrepancies prior to finalisation.
• Support month-end and year-end payroll activities.
• Assist with payroll system testing and upgrades.
• Maintain payroll procedures and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, increase efficiency and reduce risk
