Join Cleanaway as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic in our Melbourne (Tullamarine) workshop. You will lead maintenance and repair of our fleet of waste trucks and bodies, ensuring safety and efficiency. The role is a permanent full‑time afternoon shift with competitive compensation.

You will perform diagnostics, scheduled servicing, and troubleshooting across hydraulics and electrics, with emphasis on accurate records and team safety. HR licence is advantageous; strong safety culture valued.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Fitter (Cert III or equivalent).
• A valid HR licence (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of hydraulics and electrics.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently and cost‑effectively.
• Experience with fleet maintenance and running repairs.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles.
• Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure fleet safety and compliance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Maintain accurate service records using fleet management systems.
• Support workshop safety and cleanliness in line with WHS policies.
• Carry out basic welding and grinding work as required.

Heavy Diesel Mechanic

• Permanent Full Time Position - Afternoon Shift Monday - Friday
• Modern Fleet of Heavy Vehicles
• Competitive Hourly Rate + Afternoon shift loading
• $49.51 + shift penalty + site allowance

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at our Tullamarine, VIC workshop. In this hands‑on role, you will take the lead in maintaining and repairing our fleet of waste trucks and truck bodies, ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently.

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles
• Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure fleet safety and compliance
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
• Maintain accurate service records using fleet management systems
