Job summary

Parklife Metro JV, employed by Webuild, is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team at Luddenham or Badgerys Creek for the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project. Coordinate and manage all WHS delivery on site, developing and maintaining the WHS Management Plan, and supporting the Rail Safety Manager to ensure compliance with OSH, WHS and Rail Safety legislation.

Qualifications

  • Construction industry experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in investigating and reporting safety incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all WHS delivery on site.
  • Maintain and upgrade WHS Management Plan and safety procedures.
  • Provide leadership on safety topics and train line managers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with OSH, WHS and Rail Safety legislation.
  • Develop and maintain site safety plans and risk assessments.
  • Report notifiable events and implement corrective actions.

Parklife Metro JV is leading the delivery of the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project, a landmark transport initiative that will link St Marys to Bradfield and seamlessly connect with the new Western Sydney Airport.

The Opportunity:

Employed by Webuild , Parklife Metro is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team based at Luddenham or Badgerys Creek.

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will coordinate and manage all delivery aspects of WHS on your site.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Stop progress of the relevant part of the Project Works where health or safety is being or may be compromised.
  • Develops, maintain and upgrade as required the WHS Management Plan and Safety and supports the rail safety assurance management team with Rail Safety Manager providing assurance for compliance with OSH, WHS and Rail Safety legislation.
  • Assists, advising and supporting senior management in WHS policy procedures, legislation and training requirements including rail safety requirements.
  • Monitors compliance with the health and safety management systems
  • Ensures supervisory personnel are trained in their WHS requirements and ensuring consultation arrangements have been established with employees.
  • Reports notifiable occurrences to the respective government agency and reviews notifiable occurrences to ensure actions has been taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Leads investigations for all extreme risk incidents, injuries and hazards and provide functional assistance and recommendations for the development of appropriate preventative actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Compiles relevant WHS reports and statistical information.
  • Conducts annual reviews of operations to ensure all WHS criteria are addressed.
  • Reports to SSTOM Management on the performance of the project WHS system for project reviews.
  • SSTOM Personnel should comply with the provisions under the Sustainability Management Plan and National Policy’s and Guidelines, to ensure onsite behaviours are consistent with our Sustainability obligations with particular reference to GBCA buildings certification.
  • Secure and leverage senior level commitment and support for development into core processes and decisions making.
  • Educate Line Managers and subcontractors in the project Policies and Procedures
  • Provide leadership to our personnel to achieve no harm or injury on culture in the workplace.
  • Assist the project to develop and maintain a workplace culture focused on an injury free workplace.
  • Provide direction, instruction and assistance to all project personnel employed across the project on a functional basis in relation to best practice, process, and procedure.
  • Establish and maintain strong positive relationship with project and operational managers to ensure engagement and support of the SSTOM project goals and objectives.
  • Develop & cultivate relationships with clients ensuring compliance with both client and company requirements.
  • Ensure that all statutory safety requirements, engineering standards and construction procedures are complied with.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out with due regard to safe working practice, safety of personnel and the integrity of the equipment.
  • Ensure that the work is being executed in accordance with internal requirements and the client’s safety and quality specifications and instructions.
  • Assist project teams with the “hands on” implementation of the health and safety systems and procedures on site as needed.
  • Oversee the development of health and safety hazard identification plans, risk analysis, corporate and site-specific safety plans.
  • Carry out and/ or oversee internal/external and accreditation safety audits and inspections
Criteria:
  • Cert IV or higher in Work, Health & Safety
  • 3+ years of experience working within the construction industry
  • Clear verbal and written communication
  • Experience in investigating and reporting safety incidents
