Regenerate Talent Pty is working with a fast-growing solar and battery storage business in Sydney to appoint a Head of Projects. The role reports to the Managing Director and leads a small delivery team across 100 kW to MW-scale projects, ensuring on-time, on-spec delivery and healthy margins.

You will own end-to-end delivery from contract through O&M, coordinating installers, DNSP activities and safety, while mentoring project managers and expanding the team.

Our client is a fast-growing commercial solar and battery storage business in Sydney. Founded in 2010, it has delivered more than 50 MW, runs its own capital and carbon advisory arms, and has a strong pipeline of signed and contracted work, including commercial battery projects in the multi-MWh range.

The business already has 2 AI architects building strong AI-enabled operations and wants someone to help enhance this approach.

Demand is now ahead of delivery capacity. They need a Head of Projects to own delivery from contract to O&M and build the team that scales it.

The role

You will report to the Managing Director and lead a small, capable delivery team of project managers and engineering staff, working alongside sales so that what is sold gets built on time, to standard and at margin.

• Own delivery across every commercial and industrial solar and BESS project, from 100 kW to MW scale solar and multi-MWh batteries
• Lead, coach and grow the project managers; set the processes, structure and accountability the team needs to scale
• Manage installers and subcontractors, approvals, WHS and site safety, and approve purchase orders within your own delegated limit
• Work directly with network operators (DNSPs) on connection and approvals
• Own margin, variations and cash flow on every project
• Bring in battery and high-voltage specialists where the job needs them
• Be hands-on at the start and run some projects yourself while you build the team. This is initially a player-coach role, not a desk job

About you

• Six or more years in commercial and industrial solar and BESS, with recent delivery leadership
• Have led a team of three plus project managers on 100 kW to 1 MW+ projects
• Know your way around installers, subcontractors, DNSP connection processes and site safety
• Have owned margin and variations, not only programme
• Think in margin, cash and systems, and want to grow into a broader operations role
• Experience delivering commercial battery projects, including network connection and commissioning, is a strong advantage
• Experience in a scaling SME EPC is highly regarded
