Qualifications

• Background in renewable energy development or IPP with relevant experience.
• Hands-on delivery of at least one utility-scale BESS project from late-stage development to COD.
• Minimum 10 years in project delivery/management, with applicable degree.
• Demonstrated leadership of Project Managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Deep commercial acumen with procurement/contract negotiation experience (EPC, OEM, BOP, O&M).
• Track record in schedule management, budgeting, risk mitigation and lender due diligence.
• Commitment to HSE standards, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

With a substantial portfolio of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage development assets across the country, they are building out an elite, agile team to drive their projects from development through to commercial operation.

The Opportunity

To support their expanding portfolio, we are seeking a high-calibre Project Director (or Senior Project Manager) to take full end-to-end accountability for two major utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, one located in Victoria and one in New South Wales.

Reporting to senior leadership, this role will lead both projects through late-stage development, procurement and contracting, through to final construction and commercial operations (COD). You will directly line manage two dedicated Project Managers (one overseeing the VIC project and one overseeing the NSW project), driving project execution, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring safety, quality, budget, and timeline objectives are achieved.

Ideal Candidate

• Background: Client-side background within a renewable energy developer, Independent Power Producer (IPP), gentailer, or a top-tier engineering consultancy (e.g., Owner's Engineer).
• BESS Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience delivering at least one utility-scale BESS project from late-stage development through to successful commercial operations.
• Experience & Education: Minimum 10 years of experience in project delivery/management, ideally with a background and degree qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Leadership & Management: Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing and mentoring Project Managers and multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Commercial & Procurement: Deep commercial acumen with experience managing major procurement processes, negotiating EPC, OEM supply, Balance of Plant (BOP), grid connection, and O&M contracts alongside internal legal and commercial advisors.
• Delivery & Execution: Strong track record in project execution, including schedule management, budget control, contractor oversight, risk mitigation, and lender due diligence/FID support.
• Safety & Compliance: Commitment to upholding exemplary HSE standards, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance across all site activities.
