Job summary

Ploomo, a fast-growing international fintech, is seeking a Head of Operations to own day-to-day Australian operations from Toorak. Reporting to the Global COO, you will align departments, optimize workflows and provide clear performance insights.

This office-based role requires hands-on leadership, governance, risk and compliance, with a track record of reducing turnaround times and scaling operational platforms across APAC and Europe.

Job description

Role: Head of Operations - full-time, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer - Global

Location: Toorak, Australia. You must be within commuting distance and have Australian work rights; sponsorship is not available.

Work arrangement: Office-based

Join an international fintech providing flexible funding to SMEs, with operations across APAC and Europe. You'll own day-to-day Australian operations, keeping teams coordinated, improving workflows and ensuring the Global COO has a clear view of performance and emerging issues.

What you'll do

• Lead daily operations across department heads, keeping projects, competing deadlines and dependencies aligned with business priorities.
• Maintain governance, risk, compliance and operating standards. Escalate issues early and give the Global COO clear, data-backed reporting on volumes, turnaround times, exceptions and service levels.
• Partner with Product and Technology to automate workflows, reduce manual effort and turnaround times, document scalable procedures and improve consistent use of operational platforms.
• Agree and maintain service levels with Sales and Partnerships, resolving operational issues so those teams can stay focused on origination.
• Coordinate external IT providers to deliver onboarding, offboarding, hardware and related requirements within agreed service levels.
• Coach operational managers, address underperformance and own workforce planning with People & Culture, including hiring, succession, retention and leadership development.

Who we're looking for

You're an established operations leader who stays close to execution, holds managers accountable and raises problems early rather than letting them accumulate.

Must-haves

• Senior operational leadership or general management experience, with ownership of daily performance, managers and workforce planning.
• Experience coordinating multiple department heads and commercial, technology and people teams through competing deadlines and operational disruptions.
• A track record of measurably reducing turnaround times and manual effort, including coordinating workflow improvements and automation.
• An end-to-end understanding of lending or finance operations, covering governance, service levels and operational reporting. Deep loan-processing expertise is not required.
• The judgement to resolve operational problems independently, address underperformance directly and involve the Global COO or specialist leads when needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in financial services, fintech or lending.
• Familiarity with ASIC and Australian regulated-lending environments.
