Job description

Fintech | SME Lending & Payments | Build & Scale Opportunity

An innovative and rapidly scaling financial technology platform is redefining how small and medium-sized businesses access capital. By combining proprietary technology, deep industry expertise, and a transparent, ethical-first approach, the business delivers fast, flexible funding solutions - while expanding into receivables, payables, and embedded payments.

With strong success in international markets, the company is now entering Australia, and we are seeking a Managing Director to build and lead this market from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a regional launch - shaping strategy, building partnerships, and creating a scalable lending operation in a high-growth environment.

The Opportunity

As Managing Director, you will establish and scale the Australian business, working closely with a global executive team across product, operations, and commercial functions.

You will bring deep expertise in the funding ecosystem and a strong understanding of how to navigate regulatory frameworks, structure capital partnerships, and position competitively in a dynamic market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute the Australian market entry and growth strategy
  • Build a scalable lending and payments platform tailored to local market needs
  • Position the business competitively within the SME funding landscape
Capital & Partnerships
  • Structure and negotiate partnerships with institutional lenders, banks, and alternative capital providers
  • Develop and manage relationships with credit funds and funding partners
  • Establish sustainable capital strategies to support originations and growth
Regulation & Compliance
  • Navigate Australian regulatory requirements (e.g. ASIC, APRA where relevant)
  • Build and oversee robust compliance and risk frameworks
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes impacting lending and fintech operations
Operations & Infrastructure
  • Build operational processes from first transaction through to scaled volume
  • Implement systems and workflows aligned with global technology platforms
  • Establish partnerships with banking, payments, and service providers
Leadership
  • Hire, lead, and develop a high-performing local team
  • Act as the senior representative of the business in Australia
  • Collaborate closely with global stakeholders to align strategy and execution
About You
  • Experience in SME lending, alternative finance, or fintech
  • Deep understanding of products such as revenue-based finance, invoice finance, or working capital solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Australian financial regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Proven track record in structuring capital partnerships and funding lines
  • Experience launching or scaling financial services businesses in new markets
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
  • Deep understanding of underwriting, credit risk, and portfolio management
Why This Role?
  • Build from scratch – full ownership of the Australian market
  • High-impact leadership role with direct access to global executives
  • Fast-growing fintech platform with proven international success
  • Opportunity to shape the future of SME funding and embedded finance
  • Equity Upside – Participate in the long-term success of the business through stock options in the global group. As you build and scale the Australian market, you directly share in the value you create.
  • True Ownership – This isn’t just a leadership role. It's an opportunity to operate with a founder mindset, with meaningful alignment to group performance.
  • Global Growth Story – Be part of a high-growth international fintech platform, with expansion into new markets and product lines driving enterprise value.
  • Reward for Impact – Your contribution to launching and scaling a new region is recognised not just in compensation, but in equity participation.
