Job summary

TheDriveGroup is seeking a Finance & Operations Manager to join the founding team in Sydney. This broad role covers finance, management accounting and operations, giving you ownership of the financials as we scale and coordinating key operational pieces across Australia and the USA.

You’ll work hands-on, report to the CEO, and help build processes and systems. Based in the Sydney CBD with full working rights, you’ll collaborate with external advisers as we expand internationally.

Qualifications

• 5+ years across finance, management accounting, operations or similar.
• Experience in a startup/scale-up or lean business owning finance ops.
• Hands-on with Xero, payroll, month-end reporting, P&L and cash flow forecasting.
• Comfortable managing payroll, superannuation, leave and onboarding/offboarding.
• Experience coordinating with external accountants, tax and legal advisers.
• Ability to present clear financial information to a CEO or founder.
• Proactive, ownership mindset and ability to drive getting things done.

Job description

I’m working with a high-growth, venture-backed AI tech start up that’s looking for a Finance & Operations Manager to join their founding team.

This is a broad role across finance and operations where you will be able to make a big impact, working with a high-calibre team. You’ll be responsible for keeping the financial side of the business running smoothly as they scale, while also owning a range of the operational and people-related pieces that come with a growing company.

It’s a hands-on role and there’s no big team underneath you. You’ll have real ownership, direct access to the CEO and the opportunity to build out the processes and systems as the business grows across Australia and the USA.

Ideally, your experience looks something like this:

• 5+ years’ experience across finance, management accounting, operations or a similar environment
• Experience working in a startup, scale-up, SME or other lean business, owning finance ops.
• Strong hands-on experience with Xero, payroll, month-end reporting, P&L and cash flow forecasting
• Comfortable managing payroll, superannuation, leave, onboarding/offboarding and employee records
• Experience working with external accountants, tax advisers and legal advisers
• Comfortable working directly with a CEO or founder and providing clear, concise financial information
• Someone who can spot issues early, take ownership and work things through without needing everything handed to them

In addition to the day to day running of the business, you'll also play a key role in coordinating external advisers as the business continues to expand internationally.

The important thing is that you’re organised, commercially minded and confident enough to coordinate the right people and make sure things get done.
