Job summary

SSE is seeking a Head of Network Access to lead planning, coordination and management of transmission network access. You will oversee long‑term project and outage planning, driving safety, security and reliability across the GB network.

You will influence capex delivery in a multi‑billion pound programme, lead a senior team, work with industry partners and ensure compliant, coordinated outages and commissioning across timescales. A Chartered Engineer or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent level of professional recognition.
• Significant transmission system operation experience and interface management.
• Strong knowledge of power system engineering, operation, safety and network development.

Responsibilities

• Lead Network Access and outage planning across projects, ensuring safety and security requirements are met.
• Develop an integrated approach to network access across multiple planning horizons.
• Provide senior operational leadership over outage and commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with NESO, TOs, OFTOs, DNOs, generators and Transmission Users for coordinated outages.
• Balance network access, security, construction delivery and customer needs with long-term SSEN Transmission interests.
• Build a capable Network Access team with the right people, tools and processes.
• Drive improvements in outage planning and operational strategy, including innovative approaches.
• Provide leadership during major network events and incident response.
