Job summary

SSE is hiring a Development Project Manager to lead complex transmission projects from feasibility to delivery across Scotland, with 50% of time in the office in Perth, Inverness or Aberdeen. You will shape scope, options and design, coordinating with stakeholders and regulators to ensure successful delivery aligned with long‑term network strategy.

The role combines technical, commercial and stakeholder elements, requiring strong leadership, budget oversight (£10M+), and experience with NEC3

Qualifications

Experience of project development through optioneering and initial design phases.
Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver multiple outputs (planning, tenders, designs).
Experience managing budgets £10M+ within transmission projects.

Responsibilities

Identify and form project teams to deliver key deliverables up to construction.
Lead feasibility assessments and route/site selection for overhead lines and substations.
Oversee planning applications and regulator submissions, and manage project gate documentation.
Manage programmes, budgets and resource schedules per governance requirements.
Build relationships with contractors, stakeholders and communities to enable delivery.
