About the Role

The State Library’s Learning Branch is a small and dynamic team which over the last decade has been consistently growing audiences - particularly schools and family audiences - through creative programming and building partnerships and collaborations with external organisations across NSW. We are seeking an imaginative and energetic leader to maintain this growth and to take our programs into diverse communities, with an emphasis on those less advantaged. The Learning Branch is a vital part of the Library’s engagement programs, and is an integral part of its strategic plans to grow audiences, build an inclusive library, and amplify our reach through partnerships and collaborations.

The role manages, develops and coordinates the Library's high quality, responsive learning programs for K-12 students and teachers, lifelong learners, and children and families based on the Library's unique collections and expertise online, onsite and on tour across NSW.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring significant experience in leading the development and delivery of creative and innovative learning programs, which satisfy current audience/s and develop to new audiences. You will also have relevant tertiary qualifications in K-12 school education, together with recent teaching experience in a school at primary or secondary level or recent experience with learning programs in a cultural organisation.

You will also have a satisfactory Working with Children Check (WWCC), a Current Class C NSW Driver’s License, and possession of a current First Aid Certificate, or a willingness to obtain certification.

You will be responsible for

Managing the Learning Branch in line with branch objectives, SLNSW strategic plan and reporting against key performance indicators.

Developing and maintaining partnerships and collaborations with educational, cultural, and community organisations, and other relevant partners, to deliver programs that connect and amplify the reach and impact of the Library’s learning programs and resources.

Conceptualising, developing and overseeing the delivery of syllabus linked online learning activities and resources based on the Library’s unique collections.

Planning and resourcing onsite and on tour (across NSW) learning programs and activities linking the Library’s collections and exhibitions to school groups/teachers, children and families.

Enhancing existing adult lifelong learning programs and developing, resourcing and programming a range of fee-based lifelong learning programs.

Liaising with curriculum development authorities, professional associations, tertiary institutions and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate school learning programs and relevant lifelong learning programs are provided.

Managing the Learning Branch budget, with responsibility for revenue generation and sponsorship opportunities.

Providing team leadership and supervising the performance of direct reports by setting work objectives, assessing performance and providing feedback, development and coaching to develop staff capabilities and meet work objectives.
