Job summary

Mercure Belconnen Canberra is seeking an Executive Housekeeper to lead the Housekeeping Department and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness across guest rooms, public areas, and conference facilities. The role involves strategic leadership, labour management and quality assurance in line with Accor brand standards.

You will recruit, train and coach staff, develop rosters, monitor productivity and control costs while maintaining guest comfort and hotel presentation.

Qualifications

• 3 years' experience as an Executive Housekeeper/Senior Housekeeping Supervisor in hotels.
• Extensive knowledge of hospitality industry practices and standards.
• Strong leadership, supervision and staff development abilities.
• Ability to motivate teams and manage workloads effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Housekeeping Department with staffing and resource allocation.
• Prepare rosters aligned with occupancy forecasts and budgets.
• Recruit, induct, train and coach housekeeping staff.
• Ensure guest rooms and public areas meet high cleanliness standards.
• Establish cleaning standards and conduct regular inspections and audits.
• Maintain conference and events spaces, toilets and back‑of‑house areas.
• Implement cleaning schedules and inspect for compliance with activity levels.
• Report maintenance issues and follow through until complete.
• Monitor quality assurance and departmental expenditure within budgets.
