Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Head of Business Controls and Monitoring for Home Lending to lead the First Line Risk agenda for one of Australia’s largest home lending businesses, guiding risk ownership, controls and remediation to ensure strong customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Divisional Head of BCM, Consumer, you’ll set strategic direction across mortgage origination, assessment, fulfilment and servicing, and partner with senior leaders to drive sustainable growth and

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in a First Line Risk function within banking/financial services.
• Deep understanding of mortgages, lending operations, and regulatory environment governing Australian home lending.
• Proven track record leading controls, monitoring, governance or remediation programs in a large organisation.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders at GM/Group Executive level and drive risk ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead First Line Risk, controls, monitoring and remediation for Home Lending Delivery Unit.
• Set strategic direction for risk management across end-to-end Home Lending operations.
• Embed risk culture and ensure strong customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.
• Lead a high-performing team of ~30 people and partner with senior leaders.
