Merkanooka Haulage is seeking a hands-on Head of Finance to manage the full finance function across payroll, purchasing, compliance and cashflow. The role leads a small finance team and provides financial insight, governance and strategic support to drive growth in the mining and haulage sector.

The successful candidate will bring CPA/CA credentials or equivalent experience, strong asset-management knowledge, ERP familiarity (Acumatica desirable) and exceptional leadership capabilities.

About the Position

Due to the continued growth of our business, this hands-on leadership opportunity takes ownership of managing the full finance function including:

• Payroll;
• Purchasing and inventory;
• Compliance; and
• Cashflow management.

Leading a small finance team, you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business while providing accurate reporting, strong governance, and commercial insights to support informed decision making.

Your expertise in management accounting, systems, fixed asset management, equipment finance and compliance within the mining services environment will be highly valued in this key position.

As Head of Finance, you will work closely with leaders and stakeholders across the business to provide financial insight and guidance, commercial advice, drive continuous improvement and support the company’s ongoing growth and success.

Your Attributes

As our business continues to evolve, you will bring a flexible and proactive approach, support by these skills and experience:

• CPA/CA qualified or strong equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in a hands-on Head of Finance or equivalent senior finance leadership role within a similar industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in maintaining fixed asset registers and hire purchase schedules.
• Background or working knowledge of asset-heavy industries such as mining services, mining haulage/transportation, earthmoving, construction, engineering or similar.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to identify opportunities and risks.
• Strong Excel capability and systems skills.
• Strong financial reporting and analytical abilities.
• Experience using Acumatica ERP highly desirable.
• Proven success in developing team capabilities.
• Agile and solutions centric.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• A current National Police Clearance or ability to obtain one (less than 12 months old).
