Jolly & Sons Pty Ltd seeks a motivated HR & HSEQ Manager to lead human resources, safety, environmental and quality initiatives across our transport and logistics operations.
You will work closely with management and frontline teams to ensure compliance, drive improvements, and support a safe, well-organised workplace in Western Australia.
We are seeking a motivated, approachable and hands‑on HR & HSEQ Manager to oversee our human resources, health, safety, environmental and quality management functions.
We are looking for someone who enjoys being actively involved in the business and takes initiative. One day you might be conducting recruitment interviews, assisting managers with employee matters or reviewing policies and procedures. The next, you could be walking through the depot, conducting workplace inspections, chatting with drivers or working alongside supervisors to identify opportunities for improvement.
We want someone who is proactive rather than reactive, who enjoys engaging with people and takes pride in ensuring that our workplace is safe, compliant and well organised.
You will work closely with management, drivers, workshop personnel and operational teams to support our people, maintain compliance and continuously improve our systems and processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their responsibilities and wants to make a positive difference in a busy transport environment.
Manage end-to-end recruitment, including advertising, screening, interviewing and onboarding new employees.
Coordinate employee inductions, training, competency assessments and ongoing development.
Support managers with employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters and workplace grievances.
Provide guidance on employment legislation, Modern Awards and HR best practices.
Maintain employment contracts, employee records and HR management systems.
Review and improve HR policies, procedures and workplace processes.
Take an active, hands‑on approach to workplace safety by regularly visiting depots, workshops and operational areas.
Conduct workplace inspections, safety observations, risk assessments and compliance checks.
Engage directly with drivers, supervisors and operational staff to identify hazards and implement practical improvements.
Coordinate incident investigations, identify contributing factors and follow through on corrective actions.
Develop, review and maintain SWMS, risk assessments, safe operating procedures and HSEQ documentation.
Manage workers compensation claims, injury management and return‑to‑work processes.
Maintain and continually improve our ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Coordinate internal and external audits, regulatory inspections and compliance activities.
Support compliance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint and heavy vehicle safety requirements.
Oversee applicable Heavy Vehicle National Law and Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation requirements.
Coordinate toolbox meetings, safety communications and employee training.
Monitor HSEQ performance and work with management to achieve safety and compliance objectives.
We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable and genuinely enjoys working with people.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in a combined HR, HSEQ or similar management role.
Experience within road transport, linehaul, logistics or another operational industry.
Sound knowledge of WA WHS legislation and Australian employment legislation.
An understanding of Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and heavy vehicle compliance.
Experience conducting workplace inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
Experience maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
An understanding of workers compensation and injury management processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with employees at all levels.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
The ability to work independently, take initiative and follow tasks through to completion.
Highly Regarded
Qualifications in Human Resources, Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
Experience in linehaul or heavy vehicle transport operations.
Experience with heavy vehicle accreditation and transport compliance audits.
Experience coordinating ISO certification and surveillance audits.
Familiarity with HR, training and compliance management systems.
We are looking for someone who enjoys being involved in the everyday operations of a business and is happy to roll up their sleeves and get things done.
Someone who is equally comfortable conducting an interview in the office as they are putting on their steel‑cap boots and walking through the depot.
We value someone who takes the initiative to get out into the workplace, speak with employees, identify potential issues and work collaboratively with managers to find practical solutions.
You won't need to be reminded to conduct inspections, follow up on corrective actions or engage with employees. Being proactive, organised and involved will come naturally to you.
Most importantly, we want someone who is approachable, enjoys building relationships and genuinely cares about our people and their safety.
A diverse and rewarding role combining HR, safety, environment and quality.
A supportive and approachable management team.
The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to workplace culture and operational improvements.
A great balance between office‑based responsibilities and hands‑on operational involvement.
An established and growing business within the transport and logistics industry.
A stable, full‑time position.
Competitive remuneration based on experience and qualifications.
