Job summary

CommBank’s Economic Crime Engineering team seeks a Chief Engineer to shape the technical direction, architecture and standards for a strategic portfolio of platforms. You will modernise technology, accelerate delivery and turn complex data into actionable intelligence.

You will help deliver safer, more resilient outcomes for customers and communities, guiding investments in investigation, analytics and agentic capabilities at enterprise scale.

Qualifications

• Experience leading architecture for enterprise-scale platforms.
• Designs cloud-native solutions using AWS, containers, serverless, IaC.
• Knowledge of data governance, privacy and observability.
• Strong DevSecOps practices and automated testing.
• Proven ability to lead large engineering teams and set technical directions.

Responsibilities

• Define tech roadmap and target state for Economic Crime Platforms.
• Lead strategy and delivery of investigation, ML, agentic and analytics platforms.
• Guide development of trusted data products and reusable platform capabilities.
• Champion cloud-native architecture, microservices, APIs and infrastructure as code.
• Embed security, data quality, privacy and risk management across the lifecycle.
• Strengthen engineering through DevSecOps, DataOps and reliable delivery.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to translate needs into outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and uplift engineering capability across the platform.
