Job summary

TOM People is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer to join the executive leadership team of a growing fintech payments business in Sydney, Australia. You will lead the compliance function, engage regulators and drive uplift across frameworks, policies and governance to protect customers and the business.

You will partner with the Financial Crime team, oversee AML/CTF programs, and mentor a high-performing team while enabling growth.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in compliance/financial crime within fintech or payments.
• Proven engagement with regulators, ideally APRA-regulated environments.
• Strong governance, risk management, and regulatory change control knowledge.
• Experience leading AML/CTF programs and financial crime risk management.
• Track record building high-performing teams and influencing Boards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and uplift the organisation's compliance framework to meet regulatory obligations.
• Act as primary liaison with regulators and government agencies.
• Oversee breaches, regulatory reporting and remediation programs.
• Partner with Financial Crime to strengthen AML/CTF and sanctions controls.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing compliance team.
• Guide business growth while maintaining strong regulatory outcomes.
