Job summary

Betashares Capital in Sydney is hiring a Full Stack Tech Lead to set the technical direction while remaining deeply involved in design, development and delivery of retirement products. You will influence across Vue, Rust, Node.js, GraphQL and PostgreSQL to build reliable customer experiences.

You will mentor engineers, champion solid engineering practices, and partner with product, design and the wider Product Engineering function to translate complex needs into pragmatic technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on leadership and delivery of production software.
• Strong full-stack capability across frontend, backend, APIs and data.
• Experience guiding technical design and improving engineering quality without people management.
• Knowledge of automated testing, observability, security and production support.
• Collaborates effectively across product, engineering and wider teams.
• Advocate for AI-enabled software development to boost productivity and quality.
• Experience with modern tech stacks and architectures is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across the retirement product portfolio with hands-on contribution.
• Contribute to software delivery by writing production code and shaping solution design.
• Design, build and ship full-stack solutions across Vue, Rust, Node.js, GraphQL and PostgreSQL.
• Translate customer, regulatory and business needs into pragmatic technical solutions.
• Lead design discussions and resolve engineering problems across product journeys.
• Champion engineering practices around testing, quality, observability and security.
• Mentor engineers with technical guidance and constructive feedback.
• Identify technical debt and opportunities to improve scalability and maintainability.
