Job summary

The Torquay Hotel, a popular Surf Coast destination, is seeking an enthusiastic Bistro Supervisor to lead our 250-seat restaurant. You will be on the floor during service, mentor staff and ensure smooth, high-quality dining experiences for locals and visitors alike.

Reporting to management, you’ll oversee shifts, manage bookings and guest flow, control labour costs and foster a customer-first culture. Experience in hospitality and strong leadership are essential; available for nights, weekends,

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for developing and supporting a team.
• The ability to confidently manage busy restaurant services in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent food and beverage knowledge and a strong understanding of full-service restaurant operations.
• Great communication and relationship-building skills, with a customer-first approach.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supervising restaurant shifts to ensure efficient, high-quality service.
• Being hands-on during service, supporting the floor and bar teams as required.
• Managing restaurant bookings, guest arrivals and the smooth flow of service.
• Supervising, supporting and motivating staff to perform at their best.
• Communicating effectively with front-of-house, kitchen and management teams.
• Handling customer feedback and resolving issues professionally.
• Ensuring service standards, venue procedures and presentation are consistently maintained.
• Assisting with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling.
• Helping manage labour and operational costs while delivering excellent customer experiences.
