Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is helping an Australian engineering leader recruit a Grid Connection Engineer for Sydney and other major Australian cities. You will lead grid studies, perform power system analyses and liaise with developers, NSPs and AEMO to deliver compliant, robust connection strategies.

The role requires 5+ years in power system analysis, strong experience with modelling tools, and comprehensive knowledge of NEM grid connections and regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years experience in power system analysis, grid connection, generation, transmission and distribution in Australia.
• Strong understanding of NEM grid connections and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with modelling tools such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS/E, Python.

Responsibilities

• Utilise PSCAD/PowerFactory/PSS/E/ETAP to develop grid models and assess performance.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, dynamic and transient stability studies including harmonic analyses.
• Conduct simulations for system stability, fault ride-through and voltage/frequency control; assess inertia and system strength.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration.
• Provide input on project strategy, risk, and commercial decisions related to grid compliance.
• Monitor post-commissioning performance and derive improvements.
