Job summary

Aboriginal Legal Service in Redfern, NSW, is seeking a Governance, Risk and Compliance Lead to strengthen enterprise risk, compliance and assurance frameworks across the Shared Services team.

You will drive risk assessments, incident management, and reporting to executives, with a commitment to culturally safe practice and community-informed governance. This role supports governance, resilience and continuous improvement across ALS.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience in governance, risk, compliance, assurance or audit with relevant tertiary qualifications.
• Strong understanding of enterprise risk management, compliance, internal controls and ISO 31000.
• Experience supporting risk assessments, compliance reviews, assurance activities and maintaining registers.
• Analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills with practical guidance ability.
• Digital and reporting skills including Excel and Power BI; experience with GRC systems desirable.
• Genuine understanding of Aboriginal culture and community, with culturally safe practice.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of enterprise risk, compliance and assurance frameworks.
• Coordinate risk assessments, maintain risk and compliance registers, monitor actions and support areas.
• Coordinate assurance activities, control reviews and audits, tracking findings and remediation.
• Prepare clear reports, dashboards and insights for management, Executive and governance forums.
• Support governance, business continuity, resilience and incident management, maintaining policies and docs.
• Help build a positive risk and compliance culture through practical guidance and stakeholder engagement.
