Job summary

SMEC is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the Rail & Metro team in North Sydney. You’ll be part of a high‑impact group delivering major rail infrastructure under the GDP two‑year program.

You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, gain hands‑on project exposure from day one, and benefit from mentoring, structured learning, and cross‑disciplinary experiences to accelerate growth.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis under guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand design implementation on live projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and support project delivery milestones.
• Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practices through structured development and on-the-job experience.
