Job summary

SMEC in Sydney is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the Rail & Metro team in North Sydney. You will contribute to design, analysis and documentation from day one within the two-year GDP, gaining exposure to major rail infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.

As a Graduate, you’ll be mentored by senior engineers, participate in structured development through workshops, online learning and immersive experiences, and build consulting skills in

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis under guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand how designs are implemented on live projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and support project delivery milestones.
• Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practices through structured development and on-the-job experience.
