Maitland City Council is offering a Pathways Graduate GIS position to kick‑start your career in local government. Commencing January 2027 for a two‑year period, the role provides exposure to a range of GIS projects and hands-on experience creating spatial layers, extracting data, and building GIS workspaces.

You will support clients by developing templates and maps, with a focus on developing a solid foundation for your GIS career.

Competenze

• Degree in Spatial Information Science completed or within two years of January 2027
• Knowledge of geographical and spatial information systems
• Experience in report writing and effective written and oral communication
• Solid computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite

In this role, you will undertake a graduate program developed specifically for you, giving you exposure to a range of GIS projects undertaken by Council. This role will see you assisting with the provision of spatial layers, extracting data, developing GIS user workspaces, as well as supporting our clients by developing templates and the provision of maps. These duties are going to help you develop a solid foundation to your GIS career!

The Opportunity:

About you:

• Degree level qualifications in Spatial Information Science in the previous two years or completion of degree by January 2027
• Contemporary industry knowledge of geographical and spatial information systems
• Demonstrated experience in report writing, written communication and oral communication skills
• Solid demonstrated computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite

Benefits:

This Graduate position is temporary full time (two-year contract) with a weekly commencing salary of $1,414.58 weekly, plus 12% p.a. superannuation. Graduates will also have access to Council's great staff benefits, benefits including:
