Maitland City Council's Pathways program offers a Business Administration Traineeship to kick-start your career in local government. Commencing January 2027 for 12 months, you will perform general administration tasks while gaining a tertiary qualification in Business Administration.
You can focus on Business Support or Customer Experience, develop strong customer service and teamwork skills, and complete on‑the‑job training with support to obtain a Certificate III Traineeship.

Commencing in January 2027, for a period of one year, our Business Administration Trainees will undertake general administration tasks across Council, whilst simultaneously gaining tertiary qualifications in Business Administration.

In this traineeship you will gain valuable administration skills including assisting with enquiries and requests from internal and external customers that will help build a strong foundation for a successful administrative career.
This traineeship provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to gain practical on the job experience, whilst also obtaining tertiary qualifications through a Registered Training Organisation/TAFE. Maitland Council will provide you an opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge, and experience across a range of functions across Council.

Benefits:
This is a full time, temporary 12-month role working a 35-hour week, with a salary range of $32,541.60
up to $51,251.20 per year + 12% super. Commencing salary is dependent on age and/or previous
education.
Council also covers the cost of all TAFE/RTO fees and gives trainees access to staff benefits such as flexible
working arrangements & fitness passport.
