Job summary

JDM Earthworks in Melbourne is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to work on civil earthworks projects across the suburbs. You will operate GPS-guided excavators and machine control systems to achieve precise grading and earthmoving results, while adhering to safety and site procedures.

You will contribute to project delivery, interpret GPS data, perform pre-operation checks, and collaborate with site supervisors to meet specifications.

Qualifications

• Current Heavy Equipment Operator certification recognised in Victoria.
• Experience operating GPS-guided or machine control excavators on construction or earthmoving projects.
• Sound understanding of GPS technology, grading systems, and machine guidance software.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to navigate between Melbourne job sites.
• Strong safety awareness and demonstrated commitment to WorkSafe regulations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and GPS data.
• Physical fitness and capability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Flexibility and reliability for casual work arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators equipped with advanced GPS and machine control technology to achieve accurate grading and excavation

• Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding progress, challenges, and equipment issues
• Operate within designated work zones and complete tasks to specified tolerances
• Able to work around overhead and underground live services
