Job summary

Qualifications

• Current Heavy Equipment Operator certification recognised in Victoria.
• Experience operating GPS-guided or machine control excavators on construction or earthmoving projects.
• Sound understanding of GPS technology, grading systems, and machine guidance software.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to navigate between Melbourne job sites.
• Strong safety awareness and demonstrated commitment to WorkSafe regulations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and GPS data.
• Physical fitness and capability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Flexibility and reliability for casual work arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators equipped with advanced GPS and machine control technology to achieve accurate grading and excavation
• Interpret GPS data and machine guidance systems to ensure precision in earthmoving operations
• Conduct pre-operation inspections and maintenance of excavator equipment and GPS systems
• Collaborate with site supervisors and surveyors to understand project specifications and requirements
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and GPS data collected throughout each shift
• Adhere to all site safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company procedures
• Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding progress, challenges, and equipment issues
• Operate within designated work zones and complete tasks to specified tolerances
• Able to work around overhead and underground live services
