Job summary

The Australian Maritime College (AMC) at the University of Tasmania seeks an International Student Support and Engagement Officer to welcome and assist international students throughout their university journey at AMC Newnham Campus, Launceston.

You will coordinate onboarding, engagement activities, and access to academic and wellbeing services, working with Student Academic Success, Wellbeing, Advising, and faculty teams to foster belonging and student success.

Qualifications

• Experience providing student support, administration, or related services.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and prioritisation across competing tasks.
• Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
• Experience coordinating events or engagement activities.
• Proficiency with enterprise systems and maintaining records.
• Commitment to delivering student-centred services.
• Experience supporting international students is highly regarded.
• Relevant qualifications or equivalent combination of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming first point of contact for international students at AMC.
• Support student onboarding, orientation, enrolment processes, and administrative activities.
• Assist students to access academic, wellbeing, advising, and support services across the University.
• Develop positive relationships with students and help create an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
• Coordinate and deliver engagement activities that encourage participation, connection, and belonging.
• Liaise with academic staff, professional teams, and external stakeholders to support student success.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and data collection activities.
• Support initiatives that improve student satisfaction, retention, and overall experience.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of student support processes and services while ensuring compliance with University and regulatory requirements.
