BHP is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join the Caval Ridge mine planning and operations team in Queensland. You will be the geotechnical lead on site, supporting safe extraction of coal and contributing to pit advancement strategies.

The role focuses on technical risk management, stability assessments, and provision of expert geotechnical advice to operators and planners, with a strong emphasis on safety and collaboration.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in geological engineering, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or mining engineering. A geology degree with a Master’s in geotechnical engineering is acceptable.
• 1.5 years minimum experience in an operational mine environment.
• ≥6 months experience in mine geotechnical analysis and risk assessment, including slope design in soil, spoil and rock.
• Exposure to Coal measure lithologies and mining practices is desirable.
• RPEQ status or willingness to work towards it is highly regarded.
• Experience with Vulcan/Deswik and Rocscience software; geotechnical monitoring equipment experience is beneficial.

• Conduct geotechnical stability assessments and deliver designs for mine planning.

• Perform inspections and monitoring of active mining areas and issue geotechnical hazard reports.
