Job summary

BHP is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join a leading open cut coal operation in Queensland. You will develop and deliver safe, executable mine designs and schedules, partnering with operations, technical services and leadership to meet business objectives.

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will gain mentorship from senior leaders and contribute to innovative planning approaches.

Qualifications

Experience leading and developing a high-performing engineering team.
Results-driven mindset with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver safe, efficient, and productive execution plans (dig & dump) for operational teams.
Create safe, productive short and medium term mine plans with the scheduling team.
Implement the 90 day rolling activity schedule with project managers.
Develop pit execution strategies with tactical planning teams.
Integrate SRF and budget critical path activities into weekly plans in a balanced way.
Produce and maintain concepts aligned to operational requirements.
Monitor and report schedule compliance and drive corrective actions.
Understand site critical paths and enabling activities to guide schedulers.
Work with operations to ensure plans are practical and achievable.
Communicate planning outcomes clearly to production and execution teams.
Contribute to incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Build cross-functional relationships across planning and operations.
Coach and develop engineers across mine planning disciplines.
