Job summary
BHP is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for Broadmeadow Mine to support development, production, and outbye areas. You will contribute to safe mine plans, ground control, and geotechnical design while liaising with multiple departments to ensure compliance with strata management systems.
You will apply technical risk assessment with strong analytical skills and report-writing to support operations and planning, while maintaining data records and promoting safe behaviours within a dynamic mining
Qualifications
- Geotechnical engineering degree required
- Experience in underground coal mining
- Strong written and verbal communication
Responsibilities
- Accountable for geotechnical processes and outcomes as defined in plans and site systems
- Provide geotechnical advice on mine plans, strata control and hazard management
- Investigate geotechnical concerns to identify risks and develop mitigation plans
- Develop hazard management plans in consultation with risk & control owners and stakeholders
- Maintain records and report information related to geotechnical hazards
- Communicate safety information and risk management activities to personnel, contractors and stakeholders
- Comply with regulations, policies, standards and procedures
