Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design Grade Control drilling programs, including scheduling and implementation.
• Conduct geological sampling and pit inspections to manage grade and reserve recovery; assisting with horizon control and ensure efficacy is maintained in the grade control process.
• Supervise contractors during drilling and sampling of ore.
• Prepare daily mine feed plan, tracking ROM quality and stockpiles.
• Reconciliation of ore quality and variance tracking.
• Planning and conducting data review and communicating to engineering team and operations for the exploration and mining extraction of bauxite.
• Analyse production data to identify trends and optimize mining operations.
• Complete and communicate the weekly mine plan coordinated with other departments to ensure efficient use of resources and equipment.
• Prepare project budgets and schedules and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

About the role

Metro Mining is looking for a Geological Supervisor who will be responsible in providing technical direction and expertise in mine engineering and planning activities. This position is responsible for ensuring all engineering and planning processes adhere to relevant laws, regulations, standards, and operational procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Designing and planning Grade Control drilling programs, including scheduling and implementation
• Conduct geological sampling and pit inspections to manage grade and reserve recovery; assisting with horizon control and ensure efficacy is maintained in the grade control process
• Supervise contractors during drilling and sampling of ore
• Support and work within MMI's values and strong safety culture
• Preparing daily mine feedplan, tracking Rom quality and stockpiles
• Reconciliation of ore quality and variance tracking
• Planning and conducting data review and communicating to engineering team and operations for the exploration and mining extraction of bauxite
• Analyse production data to identify trends and optimize mining operations
• Completing and communicating the weekly mine plan coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient use of resources and equipment
• Prepare project budgets and schedules and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field.
• Experience with mining operations, including Bauxite
• Minimum 5 years of experience in geology, including at least 3 years of experience in mine geology. Previous supervisory experience is highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of drilling sampling and Grade control.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong software skills (QGIS, Surpac, Microsoft Office).
• Working knowledge of relevant mining legislation and its application
• A high level of planning and problem-solving ability
• Strong communication skills and ability to critically evaluate mining problems
• Ability to work closely with production and maintenance operational teams
• Effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a small, agile team environment.
