Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU in Queensland seeks a Senior Mining Engineer with proven technical capability and practical operational experience to lead short-term mine planning activities. This opportunity is designed for an engineer who can demonstrate real-world underground mining knowledge, strong technical planning skills, and the ability to turn mine plans into practical production outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree or tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• 6–8+ years of mining engineering experience.
• Strong underground hardrock mining experience.
• Proven short-term mine planning experience.
• Proficiency in drill and blast design.
• Experience with mine design and stope planning.
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods.
• Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring.
• Practical site-based mining experience with strong operational awareness.
• Proficiency in Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, Deswik or comparable software.
• Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to demonstrate a genuine track record of technical and operational experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead short-term underground mine planning and design activities.
• Convert medium- and long-term plans into practical execution strategies.
• Prepare operational mine designs supporting development and production targets.
• Coordinate short-term plans across multiple underground mining areas.
• Develop and optimise drill and blast designs.
• Review stopes designs and identify opportunities to improve mining outcomes.
• Ensure mine plans reflect operational capabilities and site requirements.
• Work closely with production and technical teams to support safe execution.
• Provide technical leadership to mining engineers and junior engineering personnel.
• Mentor graduates and cadets and contribute to capability development.
• Identify opportunities to improve mine design, planning and production practices.
• Support coordination of ventilation, backfill, services and infrastructure requirements.
• Monitor production readiness and assist with resolving planning and operational constraints.
