Job summary

National Rugby League (NRL) seeks an experienced General Manager to lead the Mercure Kawana Waters Hotel on the Sunshine Coast. You will oversee all hotel operations, drive guest satisfaction, and deliver strong commercial outcomes for a premier hospitality asset.

Based on the Sunshine Coast, you will lead a team, manage revenue, F&B, conferences, and marketing, while partnering with owners and NRL leadership on asset improvement and compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager, or senior hospitality leader within a hotel, resort, or large accommodation venue.
• Strong knowledge of hotel operations, including accommodation, food and beverage, revenue management, finance, and people leadership.
• Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, profitability, and operational performance.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution.
• Knowledge of the Sunshine Coast tourism and hospitality market would be highly regarded.
• High levels of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
• A collaborative and solutions-focused approach with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and service standards.
• Drive commercial performance through effective revenue management, forecasting, budgeting, and market analysis.
• Develop, coach, and inspire a high-performing team, creating a culture focused on accountability, engagement, and customer excellence.
• Oversee all accommodation, food and beverage, conferencing, and guest service operations.
• Manage financial performance, including budgets, profitability, cost control, and reporting.
• Build strong relationships with local tourism partners, industry stakeholders, suppliers, and the broader Sunshine Coast community.
• Lead local sales and marketing initiatives to maximise occupancy, revenue, and market presence.
• Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvement and business growth.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, licensing, governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with the property owners and NRL leadership on asset enhancement and continuous improvement projects.
• Provide regular operational and commercial reporting to senior management
