Club Kawana is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our management team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on, commercially minded hospitality professional to take responsibility for the day‑to‑day operations of a medium size community club, leading our team, improving operational standards and delivering an outstanding experience for our members and guests.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the General Manager, strengthening operational performance, developing a professional workplace culture and ensuring the Club operates efficiently, profitably and in accordance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee the Club's daily operations, with responsibility for hospitality, bar operations, gaming, customer service, staff performance and operational compliance.
The role requires a visible and proactive leader who can balance hospitality objectives with the expectations of members, guests and the broader community.
Oversee the daily operations of the Club, ensuring all departments operate efficiently, consistently and in accordance with established standards.
Manage gaming operations, including machine performance, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, customer service and the effective use of Maxgaming reporting and management systems.
Lead, mentor and develop department managers and frontline employees, fostering accountability, professionalism and a positive workplace culture.
Management of Stock Control / systems and end of month reporting.
Monitor departmental budgets, labour costs, operational expenses and revenue, identifying opportunities to improve productivity and profitability.
Ensure compliance with applicable liquor, gaming, workplace health and safety, employment and other legislative requirements.
Maintain high standards of customer service, resolve complaints professionally and promote a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Ensure effective use of SwiftPOS and Tanda, including reporting, point‑of‑sale operations, rostering, time and attendance and labour management.
Implement, maintain and continuously improve operational policies, procedures and workplace standards.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, staff productivity, service delivery and the overall performance of the Club.
Proven experience in a senior operational management role within a licensed club, hotel, hospitality venue or comparable environment.
A sound understanding of Queensland gaming and liquor legislation, regulatory requirements and responsible service obligations.
Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience with Maxgaming, SwiftPOS and Tanda which is highly desirable.
Current Queensland Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency.
Current Responsible Management of Licensed Venues (RMLV) certification, or the ability to obtain it within an agreed timeframe.
First Aid certification and relevant workplace health and safety training.
A sound understanding of workplace health and safety, employment obligations and relevant modern awards.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
The ability to lead by example, make sound operational decisions and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Availability to work a flexible roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as required by the operational needs of the Club.
